Transition Force

A BT Group-wide external mentoring programme that supports armed forces leavers, veterans and their families in their transition to civilian employment.

Transition Force is a BT Group-wide external mentoring programme that supports armed forces leavers, veterans and their families in their transition to civilian employment.

The programme was first set up in 2010 by BT’s Chairman, Transition Force seeks to achieve a positive employment outcome for everyone attending the workshops by providing support through; interview techniques, CV writing, and by also highlighting the current career opportunities within BT and Openreach, providing an insight on each part of the business and providing an insight on the current job market.

It’s about helping our service leavers to find the role, company, and industry that’s right for them.

It also enables the delivery of many of our Armed Forces Covenant Pledges in which BT currently holds the gold award.

There are three current 'themes' for the workshops which service leavers and veterans can choose to attend:

  • A morning with BT
  • Openreach Engineering Insight
  • BT Cyber Security Insight

These workshops were originally held face to face at BT and Openreach sites across the UK but since 2020 they are now held virtually over Microsoft Teams, the workshops typically run for 3 hours between 09:30-12:30.

These workshops are 100% volunteer led with 2-5 BT or Openreach colleagues on each call. Each workshop typically has between 20-30 service leavers or veterans to keep it personal and interactive.
